The Outdoor Adventure Group Welfare Officer
Jenny Horne
My name is Jen Horne, I am writing to introduce myself as OAG welfare officer. I have been a club member since April 2006. During this time I have benefited greatly from the help and coaching I have received and feel this is my opportunity to give something back to our club.
As a club we have decided to pass the responsibility of Child Protection Officer to the BCU, following their guidelines. Locally we will have a club welfare officer. My role is to act as a source of advice on safeguarding and protecting children, promoting good practice and co-ordinating / reporting any issues or concerns raised and ensuring advice from BCU is subsequently followed.
I am relatively new to this position and currently in the process of completing relevant courses to help me fulfil this role to the best of my abilities.
CRBs are in the process of being renewed so that they have all been processed through OAG, I will hold a list and remind people when they need updating. Relevant information will appear on the welfare notice board.
If anyone has any concerns or feels that further information is needed please do not hesitate to contact me. I hope that everyone will find me approachable and I will do my best to deal with all concerns and enquiries with empathy and as efficiently as possible.
