Unfortunately, due to the adverse weather conditions forecast for the weekend, this year’s Seaquest/Seatour event has been cancelled. We are sorry to have to make this decision, but the expected winds are greater than the maximum recommended by Fleetwood Harbourmaster as part of our Risk Assessment. We hope the decision to cancel has not disrupted your plans too much and we look forward to seeing you at next year’s race. Please pass this message on to your club members, forums and anyone else you think may be affected by today’s decision.

This Fund Raising event organised by Outdoor Adventure Group, supporting Research into the prevention of Cancer in Children is to be held on Sunday 11th September in the tidal reaches of the River Wyre starting at the historic port of Fleetwood.

SEAQUEST 22km. Testing and challenging. Starts on the beach at the Marine Hall Fleetwood. Using a map of the course, it involves locating checkpoints, exiting kayaks,

punching route cards, and runs up-stream to Shard Bridge with the flooding tide, takes in the benefits of slack water and then uses the ebb of the sea to return to the finish. Competitors will need to be fit to cover the 22km, have map reading skills and be competent at rescues should a capsize occur.
SEATOUR slightly shorter at 15km, but with similar challenges. Locates checkpoints, punches route cards and turns at Stanah.

The Wyre estuary offers many interesting aspects and challenges to paddlers.

Observing the wildlife, using navigational skills to locate the checkpoints, reading the water and the flow of the tide.

Local experts will be on hand on the day to give advice. Winds and currents can be strong.

You may compete as an individual, Team or Tandem Canoe.
Trophies will be awarded at the post race BBQ and all paddlers completing the course will receive a certificate showing their time
